Cathy Fleming and Tana, a seven year old Golden Retriever mix, are part of the Tails to Tell program at the Mundy Branch Library which offers children like Destany Delaney the fun and rewarding opportunity to read aloud one on one to a trained, gentle dog. Over one hundred dogs participate locally through the volunteer organization Sunshine Friends, Inc. and each is certified as a Canine Good Citizen by the American Kennel Club and accompanied by their handler on reading visits. The dogs make for patient and nonjudgmental listeners which is ideal in helping children develop confidence in their reading skills.
