Zorica12 Says:

Jan 15, 2008 - It is true that adults with autism now are at a disadvantage. Alot of this research and treatment is really new. Also, it is really importnat that these kids get the help from when they are YOUNG. This is why autistic adults have not had much sucess.

dbonanno Says:

Jan 16, 2008 - Jenny McCarthy is not a doctor. Her claims have not been supported by scientific evidence and have not been published in medical journals. More research needs to be done on her claims before people change their children's diets. I hope parents don't withdraw their children from therapy based on some half-baked book by a failed actress.

rasanchezd Says:

Jan 16, 2008 - Nobody is saying to remove the children from therapy. My son is receiving 20 hours per week of ABA oriented classroom (ISD), 4 hour per week of private occupational therapy and 4 hours per week of speech therapy. He is receiving also 10 hours a week of private 1-1 ABA therapy at home. These thing are a must ans hould not be left behind.

dbonanno Says:

Jan 16, 2008 - Give me a break. Autism is a disorder that hinders a person's quality of life. Would you want to be autistic or have to shoulder the burden of raising an autistic child? By the way, are saying that being black is as bad as being autistic? The race analogy is bullshit.

dbonanno Says:

Jan 18, 2008 - Well, I think that all possible causes for autism should be investigated and different methods of treating it should be tested. I was being a bit harsh on Jenny McCarthy because it seems as if people assume that any celeb that puts out a book on medicine knows what they're talking about and that could be dangerous. But, obviously, level-headed parents like yourself don't make rash decisions like that.

momtogo1234 Says:

Jan 26, 2008 - You don't sit back and wait for studys and testing. You do what you can to help your child. PERIOD! All her point of view is SO RIGHT. Your pediatrician will make you feel stupid and crazy. I took my son to a DAN doctor, took him off all processed crap food, took him off wheat and dairy and within 2 months he was talking. Follow your instincts.

aspie182 Says:

Jan 30, 2008 - My autism has, if anything, given me a greater quality of life than I could expect otherwise. The ability to imagine things that are beyond the contemplation of my peers, the ability to experience sensations from sound, and so on, stand in testament to that. What has hindered my quality of life, on the other hand, is abuse and mistreatment, along with a big side of ignorance, from people like you. By the way, the UN's criteria for minority status makes the race analogy quite valid.

aspie182 Says:

Jan 30, 2008 - Albert Einstein was an autistic adult. Bill Gates is an autistic adult. Kate Capshaw and Helena Bonham Carter are pretty convinced that their spouses are autistic.

aspie182 Says:

Jan 30, 2008 - No thank you, Jenny. I put up with more abuse than you will ever witness if you live to be 200 before my twelfth birthday, and any proposal that I be divested of what those people abused me for is only going to get one response from me: no. Trying healing ignorance instead. Go and ask the Spielberg family what they think of autism sometime and see what I mean.

AnneRingkvistMoller Says:

Feb 6, 2008 - I have autism

bcuzicare Says:

Feb 17, 2008 - I am not a doctor, but I've experienced a severe health challenge, and whether you believe it or not, everything we put in our bodies, is a direct result of how our bodies function. Our dietary habits is a KEY Factor in our cellular structure. Don't be foolish!!

babykelz420 Says:

Feb 18, 2008 - All I got to say is read the book. Through out the whole book she says nothing like "this is the way. you have to do it this way!" no she says the whole time "I am not a doctor, this is the way I did it and would recommend it to any one who ask." Austims is such an epidemic and some1 had to be the voice to get people to realize wow this is some serious stuff. 1 and every 150 kids have it. That is crazy! A child is diagnosed every 20 mins. Don't talk shit until you read it.

ZeroCorpse Says:

Apr 2, 2008 - Helena Bonham Carter thinks Tim Burton is autistic? I think we need to be clear about autism, and the difference between someone with mild autism or AS, and people who are completely disabled by their autism. People who function somewhat normally are not at issue here. What's at issue is people who will NEVER be able to care for themselves, and how society needs to stop coddling them & instead find a way to prevent it. Autism is not a race suffering prejudice. "Tolerance" isn't a solution.

FynFlyte Says:

Apr 10, 2008 - Autism is brain damage. Thank God for Jenny telling the truth about it. Now if only we could get all the aspies treated social services would save a fortune since most of them are unemployable.

conimahoni Says:

Apr 30, 2008 - hi r u girl or boy how old are u?

VicFetters Says:

May 3, 2008 - Whats cool, is that this woman is not just "Looks", she's a smart one!

momtoMatthew Says:

May 8, 2008 - my son is getting better with Adult Stem Cell and mHBOT. recoveringmatthew, blogspot, com

Grenbarme Says:

May 9, 2008 - Great job Jenny! Keep on. I have Asperger and I'm curing myself. Autism is curable.

timwintle Says:

May 26, 2008 - I too have Aspergers, and you never "cure" yourself - you'll always have that special ability to think about things rationally that most people don't. As you grow older you learn to deal with the world around you, which is great - but you'll always have Aspergers, and it can be a gift, not a "disease" - it's all in parenting and growing up.

TicTacTrish Says:

Jun 2, 2008 - what's rain man?

overseer71 Says:

Jun 2, 2008 - Dr. Jay Gordon, Jenny's pediatrician, has a great new DVD on the pros and cons on vaccinations called "Vaccinations? Assessing the Risks and Benefits". I found it very helpful before deciding to vaccinate my child. He'll be at the Green our Vaccines march this week and I support his efforts.

tomo27tigers Says:

Jul 8, 2008 - my cousin Phillip Warvill is 7.He also has autism and only started speaking just a couple of years ago.He has an incredible talent at the drums. He has just been snapped up by Earth, Wind and Fire. I have recorded albums with him and he's unbelievable. the best drummer i've played with. If you want to check him out, type in "Phillip doing his fing" in the youtube search engine. he also has a myspace if you want to check that out but i cant remember that.He looks a little bit like David actually.

gimit08 Says:

Jul 17, 2008 - do people with autism remain that way forever?

QueerSwede Says:

Jul 17, 2008 - exactly!

milenaEsc Says:
