Jul 24, 2008 - Good evening folks. You may wish to check out my YouTube home page. The link in my profile is biowillieusa which is Willie Nelson's biodiesel company. He has been doing this for a number of years and it is very successful. You may wish to contact them for information. I have been running biodiesel and veggie-oil in all my vehicles since 1983.
rodneykingman Says:
Jul 24, 2008 - My current vehicle gets 52 miles per gallon, over 900 miles per tank and is either free (veggie-oil) or cheap (biodiesel) to fill up. It also has near zero toxic/carcinogenic emissions.

Jul 24, 2008 - So individual Americans can just provide for themselves? They don't need big government or big business to take care of them (and extract their hard earned wealth at the same time)? Holy Cow! What a concept. Keep up the great work, you're on the right track to returning this country to its former glory.

Jul 24, 2008 - More power to him! But he might want to contact area restaurants about the possibility of getting their used fryer oil *before* converting his car to run on it, not after. :)

Jul 24, 2008 - Fortunately a vehicle that has been converted to run on vegetable oil will still run on diesel fuel. The better kits provide a dual tank system so that you can easily switch between diesel and vegetable oil.

Jul 24, 2008 - NOOOOO!!!! vegetable oil is bad, real bad... Hydrogen is the answer. I couldn't put the link..but it has to do with the presence of glycerin, which decreases the life span of the engine and the article explain how it would take alot of corn fields if most vehicles would run on vegetable oil, increasing the price of food.

Jul 25, 2008 - ps we dont have an energy problem we have energy industry inertia and public apathy
margomaps Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - But his goal is to run on veggie oil. If he can't find a reliable/affordable supply of veggie oil, then why do the conversion? Dave: is it true that "in many cases it's something they have to pay to get rid of, so they're glad to give it to you for free"? Even if true, if William succeeds in getting a lot more people driving on veggie oil, the law of supply & demand would result in a decidedly "not free" market price. Restaurant-discarded-fryer-oil simply can't support very many drivers.

Jul 26, 2008 - It's cheaper to get turn your car into an electric car. i.e. EV. Plus say bye bye to car mechanics and engine problems. /watch?v=83_Zig2vZlQ

Jul 30, 2008 - Hydrogen isn't the answer. You need a cooled 15,000PSI pressure vessel to get close to 200 miles, infrastructure to move the hydrogen around, a fuel cell that will last longer than just a few years, hydrogen must come down in price, etc... All this can exist, but it's wildly expensive ($1m). The ultimate solution for today are EREVs like the Chevy Volt. They plug in at night, run as long as they can on cheap electricity, then fall back on a genset to keep the batteries charged.
