Jul 9, 2008 - Thanks for uploading such an interesting item. I had no idea Rota had written an opera. As a piece of 1950s coloratura this makes a good alternative to Bernstein's 'Glitter and be gay'. Most enjoyable and enterprising performance.

Jul 9, 2008 - Thanks for the comment. You are right about "Glitter and be gay". We've found it in: Grandi Operisti Per Giovani Cantanti - Raccolta II, Revisione di Gabriella Ravazzi - Ricordi. According to the editor,it was "indispensable to include - at the end of the volume - an aria from the contemporary repertoire, as an 'open' and never definitive destination of this short (but fascinating) journey..."

Aug 4, 2008 - I've sang this opera many times and it's quite edited and strange this version of the aria.

wolkowy1 Says:

Aug 4, 2008 - This version for solo recital-exam is from "Grandi Operisti Per Giovani Cantanti, Raccolta II Ricordi p.36, exactly as written for soprano, I'm not responsible for the piano-part, with a private little joke between my coach and me: the high Eb at the end which start also the aria's closure. It's the same in Opera Vocal Score Series, Ricordi in p. 235. The only difference is that Nonancourt and the Donne del Corteo's parts are reduced to piano-part.
