ERRATA: I wrote ISP when I meant IP address. Sorry, I'm a goon. ============================================ Please read this story: http://tinyurl.com/6mgd72 This is serious fucking business indeed. Yes, I know their lawyer says, "I also can say with complete certainty that we will not use any of the data provided to pursue individual end users." However, I have absolutely no trust for the statements made by corporate lawyers after years worth of watching the RIAA sue little kids for downloading music. Also, why the hell do they need our ISP numbers if they do not want to file lawsuits against us?

Jul 6, 2008 - I hope these sue happy goons all grow incurable warts on their faces.

Jul 6, 2008 - Deleting your account probably won't help you. I'm sure that they back up their user registry all the way back to the first day YouTube went live.

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - I hope the same thing, but not on their faces...

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - Yeah, that's why I haven't done it yet. I'm just taking down videos where it's a little more flagrant.

LoomisLoftis Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - THat's why you should only access your youtube account from public computers...libraries, college campuses, etc. They'll never track me down...MWUHAHAHA!

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - Actually, you could just use a proxy ISP too. That's what the Muslims do, which is why half the proxy servers are actually CIA fronts. Ah, intrigue.

LibertyIsNotGiven Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - The only copyright problem I've had on YT is having been DMCAed by TheFriendlyGeek for showing his face to the world, despite his insistence that it wasn't him (though we now know it was). I did, however, preemptively delete a Top 10 Bands video that contained a few music clips, since someone who responded to it got DMCAed. Viacom's current bully tactics aren't surprising. Quite a load of bullshit, yes, but that's just what corporations and governments do.

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - You have a photo of the Friendly Geek's face. I want to see, damn it! Yeah, I am not overly fond of governments nor corporations, but I've always thought corporations would be greatly enabled by deregulation (although they wouldn't get a lot of the corporate government hand outs they currently get).

AbbeyNormal Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - I just assumed those ads that popped up were by permission of the youtube user, since a lot of these sites give extra space or time limits to people who allow advertising on their accounts. I think it's funny (sad) that they're now going after people who are trying to do the right thing in giving credit for their sources instead of thanking them for the free advertising.

Ender1zero1 Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - I fully intend to outlive my liver by at least a minute or two and retirement is a lie in the same way the cake is a lie none of us are going to see it let alone be in any shape to enjoy it if it ever actually exists.

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - I don't think me ever seeing a Social Security check is mathematically possible.

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - "I think it's funny (sad) that they're now going after people who are trying to do the right thing in giving credit for their sources instead of thanking them for the free advertising." They aren't yet coming after us, but this ruling sets a precedent that will allow for that sort of thing in the future. I think I shall endeavor to keep a low profile.

Gemm73 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - I assumed the same thing.

premed411 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Please don't close your account!!! You, malyenkijprints, and dchsdl, are the only ones I really enjoy watching!

xCodyxRayx Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - FFFFREEEEEDDDOOOOMMMMM

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Ok, I won't. I'll just watch what I upload and never give any credit to anyone through tags. I just hope I don't go to the poor house and have to pimp out my wife's vagina for beer money due to my being a pirate on the lawless high seas of the interwebbers. A bad pirate though since I've never made so much as a thin dime off of it. YouTube should just pay Viacom a portion of their ad revenue. That's what hippies would do. Fucking yuppies try to sue everyone. They do smell better, however.

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - They make take our Tubes, but they shall never take away our lulz!!!!! NEVAR FORGET

ButlerMoz Says:

Jul 8, 2008 - HAMERICAAAAH!! Cadicus, if you bitch about the RIAA, then the terrorists win!! HAMERICAAAAH!!

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Jul 8, 2008 - Or so the Germans would have you believe...

Tekkhan Says:

Aug 1, 2008 - Hey Caddie,I'm thinking we should go old school on this,my protest genes are getting exited.I say boycott everything Viacom, its' parent co. & subsidiaries. What say you?.. I haven't a clue as to what they are as yet. Also,I think this is a prelude to Senate Bill 1959,The Homegrown Terrorist bill, which basically strips what's left of our constitution. The bill implies,no one can speak ill of govt w/o approval, internet will be filtered,no more free speech,or thought. You tube it,inform your subbies.

JustinsVision Says:

Aug 4, 2008 - I have two channels here on Youtube. I'd say they're gonna sue me for my other channel...even though the copyrighted material I use on my channel is fair use.

JustinsVision Says:

Aug 4, 2008 - I'm just waiting until I get something in the mail saying that I'm being sued for everything I got.

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - I did a video on that Bill. It will get struck down in the Supreme Court I bet. Especially since it differentiates violence from force. A good argument can be forceful and is thereby protected by the First. Violence is not, nor should it be.

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - If it`s a parody, it`s fair use. If it`s criticism, it`s fair use. If it`s for educational and non-profit it`s fair use. The problem is that they`ll taker you to court and make ytou prove it. That costs money. Hence criticism is chilled. Voices are silenced. Our corporations will tell us what to think. Dissent is verboten!

CadicusTheDamned Says:

Aug 12, 2008 - Yeah, because you made SOOOO much money from your YT videos.
