England had abolished slavery before the United States thereby leaving the perfect oppertunity open to smuggle African-Americans across the Detroit River to the freedom of the then English colony of Canada. The monument shown in this video (located between Caesars Windsor - formally Casino Windsor - and the new Windsor Police Headquaters) was erected in honour of that particular movement in history.
