Hack a Playstation 3 blu-ray laser and turn the Star Trek Phaser into a Blu-Ray Laser Phaser! First time in the world this has ever been done! Less than $100. CAUTION: As... More» you know...lasers can be dangerous. Never point them at any living object! This is not a toy, and this should not be used like a conventional laser pointer. In other words, don't use it in presentations, or to play with pets, or allow children to use it. It should only be operated by responsible persons who understand and respect the potential laser safety hazards

Nov 16, 2008 - no its probably between 250 270 mw maybe i dont know so if so yeas you should be able to see the beam of light in the dark and light
CriticalMistake Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - not necessarily...more powerful lasers can be seen simply bouncing light off the dust in the air...but the stream must be very fine, almost to a point where you can start to burn objects with it. Using diodes from these modern video game systems and disk drives can get you this result.

Nov 17, 2008 - all they had were sea bass...sorry

Nov 17, 2008 - WTF? You mean you cannot turn a soldering iron on, hold it still for 2 minutes, and unscrew a few plastic bits? Oh, that's right: If it's not pre-made in a Chinese sweatshop and sold to you at a 300% mark up, then it's "too hard" and you whine how someone ELSE should do it for you. It's sad when the average overfed American is too lazy to even learn BASIC electronics, yet DEMANDS someone else does so for their entertainment. Excellent and creative hack kip..and pretty easy!
jdawz1985 Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - how do you think of this stuff?
NUMBER4940 Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - 1) most people don't have a soldering iron, know what temperature to set it on (does it have to be set?), or have the metal that melts when in touch with the s. iron that's #1 2) where in the world would i find this blu-ray laser component without buying a PS3? i suppose maybe, per you comment, i could find one in a chinese sweatshop. so, yes, it is beyond the average person to make this
seann33uk Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - 1. a soldering iron has 3 settings OFF warming HOT its called solder.. hense solder-ing iron soldering iron you can get from DIY shops from as little as £12 2. try ebay.
