puggy1000 Says:

Jul 23, 2008 - i have to agree. I'm a big Asafa fun i think he dipped too early, because he heard Bolt coming and felt pressured.

puggy1000 Says:

Jul 23, 2008 - Sorry, men to say big Asafa fan

puggy1000 Says:

Jul 23, 2008 - What record did Gay hold?

kloudbreak Says:

Jul 23, 2008 - I back Asafa too but he needs to stay focused in the last 20m which i've noticed has been an ongoing weakness of his. I've seen him run the 400m & he has major stamina issues. I hope he can counter this against Gay this weekend & fix it before Beijing.

kristwords Says:

Jul 23, 2008 - i Think powell thought he had it won too early and eased up just to see bolt creeping up on him , thats when he lost his composer and dipped ; however i dont believe he was threatened in anyway

puggy1000 Says:

Jul 23, 2008 - Guess he won't get to fix it against Gay, since Gay has backed out of the race. Injury or not he's avoiding Powell right now. He has been since Powell set the 9.74 in Italy last year.

kloudbreak Says:

Jul 23, 2008 - If Usain got a good start Asafa would have been in real trouble. Usain's stride lenght can run down any man & Gay should realise he can't afford to be soclumbsy ease up at the end

SSone97 Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - I'm glad this happened because I want Asafa,Bolt, and Gay to be on their toes when they battle it out. They need to lose every now and then.

bnewman227 Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - im not convinced that he was easing..yes he did ease up slightly but the 50-80 phase he just wasnt as fluid a we saw when he did the 9.77 and 9.74 times.. he's got to learn to run his own race and let the field come back to him and not panic if it doesnt. Gay (is) and Bailey (was) the opposite.. they seem to be able to squeeze out additional speed via brute force.

bnewman227 Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - did he get a flyer?!

pangbournecollege44 Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - go ASAFA!!!!!!!

RastaManEdition Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - Isn't Jamaica like the best place to be. I urge all a y'all to jet on down to the island in the sun. Among Asafa and Usain we've got a lot more on offer. See you there.

TAJY26 Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - Powell's always been a good starter but his finish tends to hurt his big races, coupled with the fact that he gives far too much attention to the athlete next to him (as seen in this race). The last time he did that, he saw Tyson Gay passing him and he got scared and lost. He needs to focus and just run hard to the finish line. Everyone knows he can win the medal, but we're not sure if he can handle the pressure when it matters.

teolan09 Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - it doesnt matter how Asafa won the race a 'win is a win".I respect both athletes and give each their praise. We need to treat both with equal respect and stop bad mouthing. Both represent Jamaica and one will out shine the other. All we JAMAICANS should do is send our blessing how ever the end result turns out in Beijing. ONE LOVE

picnite Says:

Jul 25, 2008 - Good win for Asafa BUT.... Bolt caught him at the end and that has been happening to Asafa since 2007 when Tyson caught him. When last has Asafa ran 100m? Even when he set 9.74 in Reiti he ran ~ 75 - 80meters then shut down. I am now convinced that running 200m definitely helps a sprinter for the shorter distance. I hope coach Fransis sees this trend and nips it in the bud ahead of the games.

GAkemetKiNg Says:

Jul 25, 2008 - powell wernt focused, he looked at da screen thats y bolt caught him so he had to dip 2 compensate. he's gna win, end of.

bollarputti Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - it may not be legal but still tyson he holds fastest run 9.68 but it is wind aided but still it is the fastest

superspliffstar Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - no it's not... stop being a sore loser. Usain holds the fastest time. If tyson can run 9.68 without it being wind aided, then he's fastest. If not, Bolt remains the record holder and is the fastest man- the rules were made for a reason.

J2thaDee Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Tyson doesn't hold the fastest run. Now this may not be legal, but I ran a 100 meters down hill in 9.24 seconds before losing control and falling on my face. Um just saying.

J2thaDee Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I agree that 200s seem to strengthen your maintenence in the 100. Powell seems to be a bit lazy though. That is coming from his coach, and also from Powell himself. On several occasions the last few years, Powell has stated his disdain for the 200, saying that he doesn't like the hard work it takes. His coach also has commented that he could work harder in practice.

ryannd8 Says:

Jul 27, 2008 - but if you add the wind as compared to the wind on bolts wr, than he would hav run equal to a 9.78.

thelegend2626 Says:

Jul 27, 2008 - no he doesnt hold the record due to wind but he is the only person in the world who has ran a 9.68 from start to finish line thats the fastets time ever.

whordapatriots Says:

Jul 27, 2008 - i can do 14.53 and that was months ago

Woglinde123 Says:

Jul 27, 2008 - I respect bolt, gay and powel, stop with bad mouth about who is the faster, I think the perfect place where they can prove who is the faster, will be in Beijing, let's see.

bollarputti Says:

Jul 29, 2008 - yes i know even i agree with you i am a sprinter too i just told tyson ran in that time i never told bolt dosent hold the record
