Aug 19, 2008 - Brilliant stuff! I guess this is taken from the "Grides" DVD filmed in Bremen 1971.

Aug 26, 2008 - No. The "Grides" DVD includes "Neo Caliban Grides", "Out Bloody Rageous", "Eamonn Andrews" (incl. Wyatt's vocal solo) and "All White". This must be an entirely different location. From what I deduct from dates in Soft Machine chrono, it's likely this was filmed at Theatre 140, Brussels, Belgium on 15th of January and broadcast on Belgian TV, "Pop Show" program. From what I gather the entire 2nd live set was filmed. Which begs the question: where's the rest of the footage?

propylaen2001 Says:

Aug 27, 2008 - Oh yeah, of course you are right. Now that is even more interesting if this really is from Brussels and I second your question. Considering the absolutely brilliant quality, this must be from a recent rebroadcast, or somebody has got the reels directly off the TV archives!

Sep 2, 2008 - HOLY CRAP! Footage of this song exists? Amazing! video quality is a bit choppy, but the sound is great, and, seeing as this is the only live footage of this song, this is incredibly rare. thank you so much for this! best softs video ever... now, where's the rest of the concert????

Oct 5, 2008 - Typed in Soft Machine expecting the usual Third stuff and this comes up! This is my favourite Soft Machine track. In the mid 90s I walked into a pub in Stoke Newington with a friend who said 'There's a musician over there, his name's Elton but it's not Elton John!' I said 'I know who it must be then!' We had a couple of pints together. I was trying to convince him that Soft Machine were a punk rock group but he wasn't having any of it! Fairplay to him, lovely bloke. RIP Elton Dean
