Jul 25, 2008 - wow nice remake. couldnt help but notice subliminal images. if you pause it on :03 the image looks like huge purple eye reflecting the wb emblem. atop we see a rabbit (an ishtar connection?) holding a carrot which could be construed as a phalanx. at :31 bottom right screen, what is that symbol? 1:08 look at his provisions. we have a lamp illuminating the way as he carries a rock pick. at 1:17 ive seen faul flash that sign. skulls with eyes. 2 much. thank you pikachulover for re-putting this out

Jul 25, 2008 - Nice comment. I see the exact symbolism you speak of. Isn't it amazing at what we as children actually seeing way back then. Now it's even worse. It's possible to all sorts of symbolism in Disney and of course movies in general. We always thought Disney was such a sweet and father-like personality. Just do a little research and you will find what Disney is really about and also the symbolism used through movies. Happy hunting!

Aug 18, 2008 - You said it! These cartoons were the best back in the day! Nowadays, it's all gross-out humor and implied adult situations.

Aug 20, 2008 - I always loved the fat elmer cartoons
FirstClassHeel Says:
Aug 31, 2008 - Well, the Looney Tunes have implied adult situations (no gross-out humor, except for a couple of "squeezed tomato [or ketchup] as blood" gags), but the people who did Looney Tunes did it with class and grace. The modern animators--try as they might to imitate the masters--don't.

Aug 31, 2008 - Like the guys behind "Ren and Stimpy".

Sep 1, 2008 - When Elmer 'zips' the ground closed at 3:52 you can see the zipper ahead of time! I think Ed, Edd, and Eddy copied the 'got your own tooth' gag from this (you, know, the episode where Ed had a sore tooth and Eddy tried to get it out for the tooth fairy).

Sep 19, 2008 - Bugs wearing the cow skull on his head at 1:49 reminds me of Disney's Lion King when the hyenas had skulls on their heads during Scar's song "Be Prepared"
fromthesidelines Says:
Sep 24, 2008 - Originally released in May 1942, with a patriotic reminder at :38 to purchase U.S. "Defense" Bonds and Stamps, since our country had recently declared war against Japan and Germany, hurling us into World War II (you could even buy them at the box office, after the movie was over!)
GamingMonster48 Says:
Sep 27, 2008 - I agree, Cartoon Network has became hell without showing these on tv.
MoronicAlecky Says:
Sep 27, 2008 - Classic sound effect at 2:25. I always laughed at that scene when I was young for some reason. Maybe it was funny how Elmer fell so fast. Still, it's a good episode.
