This is my first free running, Parkour video, I hope you all like it. Parkour focuses on practicing efficient movements to develop one's body and mind to be able to overcome obstacles in an emergency. According to David Belle, "the physical aspect of parkour is getting over all the obstacles in your path as you would in an emergency. You want to move in such a way, with any movement, as to help you gain the most ground on someone or something, whether escaping from it or chasing toward it." Thus, when faced with a hostile onfrontation with a person, one will be able to speak, fight, or flee. As martial arts are a form of training for the fight, parkour is a form of training for the flight. Because of its unique nature, it is often said that parkour is in its own category: "parkour is parkour."

Jun 20, 2008 - "Parkour focuses on practicing efficient movements to develop one's body and mind to be able to overcome obstacles in an emergency." You says that and your first move is a wallspin... is there anything less efficient then that? And by the way, parkour is just about moving, following your way, be usefull, and feel strong, body and mind. I don't believe that the " emergency " stuff has anything to do with parkour.

Jun 20, 2008 - for different people understanding of parkour is also different. Just like you and me don't think the same way. According to me there are no hard and fast rules of parkour, go check on web what david belle tell about parkour. i am not saying you are wrong but may be your understanding is different from mine.

Jun 22, 2008 - You look great... video is full of adventure. But the runing on the tree was shown numerous time..I wish it was not repeated like that. Otherwise it is good.

Jun 22, 2008 - thanks for your comments, i will work on another video, and trying to cover up other parkour and free running tricks too. i appreciate your suggestion. thank you.

Jun 23, 2008 - parkour is not about tricks there is no tricks in parkour.there are tricks in freerunning but in parkour there are just moves
artur123431 Says:
Jun 23, 2008 - david belle said that flips are not parkour and that anything that is useless as wallspins are not parkour
codergeek82 Says:
Jun 25, 2008 - artur123431, i don't know why didn't you saw video title thats says this video is about free running and parkour. its good that you identified what free running is, so does this video is all about.
codergeek82 Says:
Jun 25, 2008 - i am doing free running as well as parkour. i think you can see when i am doing precision that is parkour and whne am doing wall spin that is free running, and the video title says this video is about both the practices. peace out.

Jun 25, 2008 - another great video amol..you have a boundless spirt..very inspiring:)
Gallowpk Says:
Jun 26, 2008 - well, freerunning also incorporates parkour into it. and instead of dividing a video as some parts are parkour, some or not, it is my oppinion that it is all freerunning.
SFCPKRM Says:
Jun 28, 2008 - flips are parkour if u use them in an energency situatian..a dog is chasing u and u make a flip to a tree hahahhahahaha
codergeek82 Says:
Jun 30, 2008 - yes why not, didn't u saw chase armitage's intro video in which guys saves themselves by doing a wall reverse jump.

Jul 15, 2008 - 80% free running.. 20% parkour..
codergeek82 Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - parkour is french for freerun dipshit.
OptacDoS Says:
Jul 27, 2008 - You gotta be kidding me... Parkour does not translate to freerun / freerunning or anything like that! Parkour can pretty much be translated to obstacle course, this is commonly agreed on within the community.
OptacDoS Says:
Jul 27, 2008 - Why would to make a flip to a tree? You would end up hitting the tree or not landing on it. You would NEVER use a flip while running away from someone, why would need to? Give me any scenario where you would use a flip in parkour, or a chase, and I'll find some other method of efficient movement with a lower risk of failure than a flip.
HelterSkelterrr Says:
Jul 30, 2008 - That was pretty lame guys. I mean abandoned boats and trees do nat make such big obstacles. Up the stakes, get inside the city and do some more cutting edge stuff.
Haoyunlong Says:
Aug 6, 2008 - Le Parkour is French for the way. so your all wrong haha. free running is acrobatics and "free" running, Parkour is going point A to point B fast efficient and Finding a "way" to get there.
OptacDoS Says:
Aug 6, 2008 - Le Parkour does NOT have a english translation. And it has no need for one. I said "pretty much" because I knew it didn't have a translation - but a obstacle course is what it is generally accepted as a english translation. While it is true that Freerunning was first thought of as a english translation - that is what seb wanted. It is not any more, and the difference in styles in apparent. Parkour is about more than just getting from A to B...

Aug 11, 2008 - skills arent bad you just need some editing work, also choose a song with a beat, it honestly makes your vid so much more smooth. you can take a bunch of guys with half the talent you have and a good editor and the video will bee so much better. not trying to criticize but help. i give 3/5 talent is decent but editing is horrible. just needs work but has potential.
