A repost of what (to my bemusement) has been my most popular video to date. Unlike the last time, where I wasn't particularly depressed, I guess I'd say I'm no more depressed than usual: that won't likely change for a while yet.

Apr 30, 2008 - I just got thru listening/reading comments to your original Funeral March. I'm sorry about your loss, it must be hard..perhaps it helps to play so beautifully. That's the nice part about music, being able to play what ever fits your mood. Thanks for sharing this, one has to slow down to take in the meaning of such a piece. The sound is so much better!! :)

May 1, 2008 - Thank you for the kind words; it has been (and is) a hard loss to suffer. The music does help, and I am very fortunate to have this wonderful piano now, though I would gladly give it up to change the past, just a little bit.....

May 2, 2008 - You need my comment like another aperture in your cranial cavity. However, that said, and without knowing your despair, here's what W B Yeats said: "...What rough beast, its hour come round at last, slouches toward Bethlehem to be born?" Also, "In the life of a man, his time is but a moment, In short, all that is body is as coursing waters, all that is of the soul as dreams and vapors." (Marcus Aurelius). Really, don't you prefer Horowitz' Marche Funebre?

Kamibambiraptor Says:

May 3, 2008 - I'm not sure what you mean with the Yeats quote, though I am familiar with it. The Aurelius reminds me of Death's view of Mortal lives in Pratchett's 'Reaper Man'. All lives are the same length, from the point of view of Eternity (but the ones that are longer are best, from the point of view of the owner). I didn't much like Horowitz' performance of this piece on YouTube (*I am not much a Horowitz fan, I should say): way too harsh for my taste, with a surprising number of mistakes.

May 20, 2008 - Does anyone know where I can find the Chopin funeral march performed by a band. The reason why I ask is because I heard the U.S. Navy play it in a film about the JFK funeral.

Jul 18, 2008 - I don't associate this piece with being sad/depressed. Like many other Chopin pieces, it is powerful and resonates deeply.

Chrstphr50 Says:

Jul 22, 2008 - lovely

barker505 Says:

Jul 27, 2008 - I think it actually is very sad. Chopin wrote it while in ill health -he was a sick man- and he was exiled from his homeland which he was always pining for

XPJamieXD Says:

Jul 30, 2008 - I agree, I think people need to aprecciate the beaty and emotion behind the piece

Aug 7, 2008 - I so totally agree.
