After this she was pretty much at the mercy of Ethel and Mr. Mayer, and from most reports they were less than sensitive about young Judy's personal needs. One can't help but to wonder how all three girls' lives may have turned out different had their father been around to love and support them throughout. Sadly, Judy's oldest sister, Mary Jane, took her own life after her second marriage fell apart.
