Social Sound System http://www.socialsoundsystem.com/ http://www.myspace.com/socialsoundsystem/ My friend called me up saying he was going to the Belly Up to check out this show. Since he was going by himself (and since I've been to many a show by myself) I went with him out of principal and moral support. Ha. The Belly Up was packed and the band was already a couple songs in before I finally managed to meander towards the front for vids. They really had some energy. Loud and pumping sound. Liked what the guitars were doing with their effects. Slide and autoharp were cool. Singer's vocal phrasing at times reminded me of Mazzy Star mixed with a little shrill excitement of Bjork only a little more edgier. That and Nico, but that could have been because of the blonde hair and accent? Short set but really cool. This was their first show of their tour and I'm definitely glad I have them on my radar.
