Roy Buchanan was possibly the greatest unknown guitarist. He has been praised by the likes of John Lennon, Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones. The 'sound' of Buchanan is essentially a 1953 Telecaster to an overdriven Fender amp on 10. Roy sadly ended his own life in the Fairfax County Jail on August 14th ,1988.

Jul 13, 2008 - I saw the original PBS special on Roy and was totally blown away. Never heard anyone like him. I've heard his many versions of "Sweet Dreams" over the years but, for me, this has always been the definitive one. The sound...the sweet simplicity..the impeccable and seemingly effortless style. His playing got into my blood that night and am thankful you can find his songs a lot easier nowadays.
