a slow morphing sequence for meditation - everything is flowing Some explanations for this kind of "visual mantra": The rhythm of the morphing is 10 seconds. This rhythm was found in the so-called „Mayer waves", which is a cardiovascular rhythm. If this rhythm is enhanced, it can lead to increases in parasympathetic and decreases in sympathetic activity. It might be helpful for stress management and relaxation. Perhaps not only a 10 seconds breathing interval can lead to such an enhancement, but also audiovisual stimulation can do this. Breathing directly in the rhythm of this video results in 20 seconds interval, which is too long for many people. Just only try to relax and perhaps then the ten seconds stimulation can help you to do this. For further information, please see the following articles: Bernardi, L., Sleight, P., Bandinelli, G., Cencetti, S., Fattorini, L., Wdowczyc-Szulc, J. & Lagi, A. (2001). Cardiorespiratory interactions to external stimuli. Archives Italiennes de Biologie, 143, 215-22. For making this movie I used a very old but very good program for morphing - perhaps the best You can buy: Marlatt, J. (1994). Morph (Version 2.5 for Macintosh) {Computer Program Manual}. San Diego, CA: Gryphon Software Corporation. But it is not so easy to convert the old with morph 2.5 generated quicktime-movie to a new format. Helpful for me was then the free available program "super". Some additional work was done with ulead videostudio 9.
