takeninj Says:

Feb 27, 2008 - the mats we have for our home preveddomedved are like hitting concrete . I do not mind being thrown on them that is how I was trained , but my students find them extremely painful to land on. I just wanted to show a simple throw , thanks for the comment.

Feb 27, 2008 - I love hip throws! 5 *s! The only thing that may go wrong except the opponents counter-technique is that you can slip out while fighting on a wet or muddy surface, so that the opponent will be just above your back.

Feb 27, 2008 - I love hip throws too 9kontaris9 I just like to give a different repertoire for people to choose from . Environment is extremely important in what you are going to do . On ice probably not a good idea on dry footing they are good. Thanks for the comment.

Feb 28, 2008 - If you are really slow you can actually hit the Solar Plexus to have more time on doing the throw. It stuns your enemy rendering him on less resistance.

Feb 28, 2008 - that is true stephen182006 good point . thanks for the comment.

Mar 2, 2008 - Again great basics Rick 5 belts! The hip throw is very effective. I tend to go for upper strikes before the throw, but both high and low strikes work for the follow up. The break fall lesson is dead on, alot don't know how to break fall and will cause injury. Effective are most judo techniques. Self defense techniques should be under 5 moves the less the better, the more moves, a mess of confusion. Laurie does a great job. Honor and pride my friend keep up the good work.

Mar 2, 2008 - Thanks peacemaker281 for the comment in the 80's we used to breakfall on basically a concrete floor in a dungeon dojo and got hurt a lot mostly just bruises can't do that training anymore at dojos causes lawsuits. I have to admit I like the mats more . Thanks for complimenting on Lori she is one tough cookie .
