Some kavadi bearers perform amazing feat. This guy in the beginning of the video even display an "up pointed nail" sandals. I saw a few walking on the roads. I have all respect and in awe by them. But know this, if a devotee carrying a simple milk kavadi starts his journey in the early morning with no traffic interference, it would take him an hour to reach the Waterfall Temple. Imagine this guy starting his journey in the early afternoon with traffic and heavy kavadis jamming the streets, he will only arrive at his destination after 4 to 6 hrs. And on his spiked sandals tightly tied to his feet. I find it scary but I stay positive and offer a silent prayer for them. Channeling the right vibrations is very important to this kavadi bearers who must feel they have to recompensate for their penance. I followed the shouts of "Vel Vel" Muruga! Glory to Lord Muruga! See more photos of the kavadis rites and rituals ceremony. htpt://www.my-island-penang.com/Photos-Kavadi-Ceremony.html One of Thaipusam's main features is the carrying of kavadis, the kavadi is a simple frame of varying sizes decorated with coloured papers, tinsels, peacock plumes, milk or honey pots, fresh flowers or fruits. The carrying of a kavadi fulfills a vow made by the devotee to the Almighty Lord Muruga. The kavadi bearers will climb the up 248 flights of steps to reach the Arulmigu Balathandayuthabani temple or the Penang Waterfall Hilltop Temple which is located on a hill at Jalan Kebun Bunga in fulfilment of their vows and to ask for blessings to the deity himself, Lord Subramaniam, his many other names. Thanks for viewing my video, my humble apologies for poor shooting due to excitement of too many activities. Thank you for the kind encouragement when I was taking the videos. It will get better so stay tuned! Cheers
