Beautiful condition! Pale yellow exterior with a green interior. 440 c.i. engine and torqueflite tranny. Full length console! That seamless grille with the hidden headlights looks particularly good on this one! The 66 and 67 Chargers are virtually identical..Thanks Bob for identifying each year so helpfully!

Jul 26, 2008 - The 1966 Dodge Charger was introduced on New Year's Day, and it didn't take long for the 1967 model to replace it, with few changes. The 318 lost 55 pounds of weight without any disadvantage; the 361 was replaced by a mild two-barrel 383; and the 440 Magnum became available with 375 hp. Trim was upgraded, with new chrome and fender-mounted turn signals, as well as a new center section in front and optional split seats.

XboobtubeX Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I would say this is a 66. I do not see any fender mounted turn signals.

Jul 26, 2008 - Thanks Bob! the vid description will be corrected! :) Jack

Jul 26, 2008 - Thanks for the rundown on these events! I guess they moved from the really big 318 to the smaller block 318..we had one of the big types in our 64 Plymouth, and I had the much smaller physically 318 in my 68 Coronet. Thanks for the additional information, Bob! :) Jack

Jul 26, 2008 - I like the charger you see in the show called Burn Notice, I am guessing that charger is a 80 something.

gersing Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - the seats are pretty cool!

raconter1 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Yes indeed they are, Aea! The stitching is a nice pattern, and they're separated by that neat console. I had a 68 Coronet, and I can say that the stitching was a weak point..the vinyl fabric had a tendency to tear on the stitch line..I had to have mine reupholstered! It would have been better if the pattern had been embossed rather than the product of stitching! I'm believing the original covers of this car were stitched too! Thanks for the comment! :) Jack

Jul 26, 2008 - Can't say that I've ever seen that program..maybe some of the viewers can pin that Charger down! Thanks for the comment! :) Jack

Jul 26, 2008 - Another great one Jack. D

raconter1 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Thanks, Daryl! There seems to be quite a few of these cars in the central Florida area..this one's from Missouri, though! Thanks for the comment! :) Jack

Taranau Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - A four bucketseat interiour!..Looks like this one was meant for grounding T-Birds.Not chasing Mustangs...A great looking car.

raconter1 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Yeah, they were way ahead of their time with that 4 seater and the long console! No others were quite like it at the time! Little did they know that today a long console could house an entertainment center! Thanks for the comment, Brian! :) Jack

1972FordF100 Says:

Jul 27, 2008 - That is something I disliked about chargers 1st gen as well as mustangs firs gen as well you can't identify them.lol but this one is nice very nice. This one is indentifiable though I think because of the circular center badge in the grille so for me that kind of states that it is one of the very first model years for this car. Great Work Jack! Richard

KyphosisKiel Says:

Jul 27, 2008 - cool seats, I don't think I've ever seen a car with bucket seats in the back.

raconter1 Says:

Jul 27, 2008 - Yeah, Kiel..a first for Dodge at the time..wasn't picked up again until the big vans and later the minivans picked it up. Somebody was thinking outside the box! Thanks for the comment! :) Jack

raconter1 Says:

Jul 27, 2008 - Yeah, Richard, this one gave me trouble and Xboobtube gave me some hints with the turnsignal lights on the trim on top of the fenders...that's a 67 trait. The badge may very well be another trait. Thanks, Richard! :) Jack

Ick69 Says:

Jul 29, 2008 - I like the 440's better than the 426. I know Hemi's are cool but the 440 sure does move a big car in a hurry.

1969MustangMACH1 Says:

Jul 30, 2008 - hey jack, are you sure this is a 66? i thought 1967 was the first year they put 440's in chargers. but 1966 was the first year for the 440.

raconter1 Says:

Jul 30, 2008 - Thanks, Eric..I'm always glad to get the mechanic's perspective! Yeah, the hemi's got all the publicity and glamor, but I think the 440 would probably be easier to live with. :) Jack

raconter1 Says:

Jul 30, 2008 - You sure know your engines, Kevin..you're right about 67 being the first year in the Charger. So maybe there was an engine upgrade/transplant in this car during restoration..the body evidently says 66, and the engine says 67! It would be interesting to know how th ecar is titled! Thanks for the comment, Kevin! :) Jack
