Intro to the Animal Planet series Animal Cops Houston. This series profiles the investigators of the Houston SPCA. This is one of the organizations Animal Planet likes to tout as "Animal Planet Heroes." However, the Houston SPCA has a policy of automatically euthanizing some of the dogs it takes into its shelter, not because of aggression or other temperament issues on the part of the individual dog - but merely because the dog happens to belong to a certain breed that many people consider unpopular. The Houston SPCA does not even allow rescue groups to save the dogs in the shelter that belong to that breed. Therefore, the Houston Cops do not deserve the title "Heroes". (UPDATE 9/24/07: Looks like I might have to eat my words about the Houston Animal Cops 'not deserving' to be called heroes:) Tonight's Animal Cops Houston showed the Houston SPCA rescuing an abused pit bull puppy, which was placed in foster care after she was awarded to the HSPCA by the courts. The end of the program stated that the dog could be placed for adoption after she recovers from her injuries!)

Mar 14, 2008 - I think that matting case made it on their episode of the most shocking cases like the tick-infested German shepherd. I would never last in a career like this. I would be fired within the week for beating one of the abusive owners. LOL!

Jul 18, 2008 - I love this show. I love that animals get second chances for a better life, and quite frankly, I think every person that treats animals like that should perish. ._. that "abandoned, neclegted, abused" commercial and this show always makes me cry cuz I can't stop thinking about how lucky my dog is. I love him so much. <3 All hail Houston SPCA!! (and other animal rescue shows)

Sep 22, 2008 - Alright Animal Cops are heroes. I dont see you out there giving the animal's a voice. And that comment offends me bc my sister Liz Pavlicek is an animal cruelty investigator of Animal Cops Houston.. so do some research thanks.

Sep 25, 2008 - I love everyone that tries to help animals. All of my animals are rescues. My only prob is with the pitbulls. They claim just because they have been fought they have to be put down because they are not trustworthy. Look at what was done with some of Vick dogs. There have been a ton of great dogs murdered just because they might have been fighters Manbiters seem to be ok in some cases
