Oct 15, 2008 - I am 17 now when I first saw The Third Man I was 10 and it has always been one of my top three films of all time. And I am from Karachi, I guess a lot of kids in westernized countries would be aware of this film, well more anyway then most people will guess.

CroatAndNettles Says:
Oct 29, 2008 - This is really fantastic! My two objections are how you begin the syncopation (the original after all wasn't really syncopated). You might want to consider hearing the playing/videos of John Fahey who provides an alternating thumb framework for syncopating familiar tunes. The second is you must do more to keep the mystery and menace inherent in the original film score. You play with great facility but must do justice to the emotions of the piece you are playing.
gerryrains Says:
Nov 5, 2008 - CroatAndNettles, He's only 12 and he only started reading music at 11. He has been doing everything else by ear. He's also learning a new song every two to three days while going to school. Time - give him some time.
SugarCoatedNaraku Says:
Nov 5, 2008 - I love this movie, so to find out he learned to play the zither song...AHHH. :] xx

Nov 11, 2008 - I think your objections are quite funny. No need to prove and show. He plays all the music with this own skills, what else would you ask him more? You'd better take care of yourself.
CroatAndNettles Says:
Nov 11, 2008 - Your views seem too insular. The kid is amazing for his age. But having good technique and having the sensibility needed to become a great musician are not necessarily the same. To understand, you should hear the film score. At some point in a few years or even now, it is only fair to suggest to Sungha that he think about these other things necessary to do justice to the piece he is playing in addition to learning the notes on the page. But as gerryrains suggests above, he will learn it in time.
Swl22james Says:
Nov 11, 2008 - I can feel that all your suggestions are from your deep concern and expectation for Sungha. I can understand your concern. You are right and also gerryrians. My point is not to bother or to burden Sungha who is now growing and beginning to have great interest and eagerness to play guitar and music.
Rockford8 Says:
Nov 12, 2008 - This young man is a guitar genius and he plays this piece to near perfection. I love they way he alters the syncopation and treats us to another version of a most unusual classic. I will save this version as one of my favorites!
