Mamo Mamo written by Marvin Phillips performed by Marvin Phillips & His Band recorded 10 June 1955 released as Specialty 554 in July 1955 Marvin Phillips' band here on this record was Maxwell Davis and Emory Perry (tenor sax), Bugs Williams (drums), Jesse Ervin (guitar), Clyde Washington (piano), and Ted Brinson (bass). This was probably recorded in Brinson garage studio in Los Angeles. Marvin (Phillips) & Johnny (Emory Perry) had already left Art Rupe's Specialty Records and had a west coast classic with "Cherry Pie" when this, a final session for Specialty, was recorded. This was also the final sides to feature both Phillips and Perry for 2 years. Johnny Dean would replace Perry as "Johnny" for the rest of their Modern contract.
