My 5yr old son practicing cricket. He'd be doing this 24/7 if he didn't need to eat, sleep and go to kindergarten.

Jun 29, 2008 - he has a truly fantastic eye and backs himself to hti the ball, make sure u on't get a coach who wants to limit his attacking flair early, he need to go out and play and develop his game, a serious talent who will go far!
Krekket Says:
Jun 30, 2008 - Will do. If you decide to get him a personal coach, make sure its an unorthodox one. I see a big future for this kid with every kinda shot, and so much of that kind of talent is going to waste because its 'not proper'. If he can switch hit for six or paddle back over his head, then propereity goes out the window, don't you reckon?
craigalake Says:
Jun 30, 2008 - I agree, especially with T20 and there will be more and more T20 by the time he grows up.

Jun 30, 2008 - Theres one shot in particular which I've only seen a couple of times, once in a Zimbabwe vs Australia match and then once in an old domestic cricket video. It's quite possibly the best defense agaisnt bouncers, well, not defense, way to score runs. If the batsman just ducks a little and then hits the ball back over their head, the ball keeps the momentum and soars over the wicketkeepers head and is going with a fair bit of bat speed plus the bowlers. Bouncers are becoming more lethal these days.

Jul 4, 2008 - impressive, my little brother is 8 years old and is playing for the Netherlands under 12 as openings bowler. He's pretty quick, i think about the 50-60mp/h

Jul 4, 2008 - Cool, how big is the competition over there?

Jul 4, 2008 - craigalake, I m from India and I think this boy is genius in making; his footwork is awesome. Look ..for cover drive, his toe points towards covers and for the hook, foot rolls towards mid wicket; also the control over back lift is tremendous

Jul 5, 2008 - Thank you. I agree, and he has a good eye (when he watches the ball).
kroesenkop Says:
Jul 8, 2008 - not so, we have just 10000 people here who are playing cricket, but i think that he is gonna be the second Andre van Troost

Jul 14, 2008 - I don't think I could stop him if I wanted to.
vsingh007 Says:
Jul 18, 2008 - Very good eye so he get's in line well and can pick up the length early....don't let him get hit too early or else he might get scared otherwise once he keeps developing a promising talent

Jul 21, 2008 - nice vid he is very good better than me :D just try to encorage him to practice on the offside as good bolwers rarely attack down the leg side

Jul 28, 2008 - Awesome,5 years old!I coach cricket from 4&5 to 15 year old and the hardest thing at his age is the cut shot because straight and leg side shots are natural! Also his grip needs to be up half way or 3/4 on the handle, little things that youngsters get early make so much difference later on!Hes got it though wow! The big question is Can he bowl????
craigalake Says:
Jul 28, 2008 - I'll put up a video of his bowling soon. It's technically much better than his batting actually.
MenWithHats1 Says:
Jul 29, 2008 - if he can bowl as good as he can bat, hes got a good chance of turning pro someday
