Mar 27, 2008 - You can also lower the strings a bit.

apnixon Says:

Mar 30, 2008 - Keep Playing as much as possible with breaks in between. The pain will eventualy go away. one your ligements and tendons begin to stretch. Along with your finger tips hardening......no pain no gain really applies to the guitar.

Apr 22, 2008 - You are my best guitar instructor, manz...

nickwentinsane Says:

Apr 26, 2008 - I also have quite small hands, try playing with a classical position until your fingers stretch a bit. for examply if you strum with the right hand, and rest the guitar on your right leg, try propping your left foot up on some books, than move the guitar to the left leg so now it will be more of a 45 degree angle, this will make it much more comfortable at first and after a while the fingers will loosen, than youll be able to play the guitar in a less upright position.

nickwentinsane Says:

Apr 26, 2008 - thats so far from the truth. check out alexi laiho, its jsut one of those things everyone thinks when they start playing guitar, 'my hands aren't big enough' i said it too. just keep playing, itll all cometogether, there are very few instances when huge stretches are really nessacry, use all your fingers when you play, youll be fine.

sakowihe75 Says:

Apr 26, 2008 - well laiho has pretty normal hands. i mean, he's a average guys height. but angus is like 5' 2". but angus uses his hands as if they were the size of a frying pan

nickwentinsane Says:

Apr 26, 2008 - word, angus is a beast. So is laiho. I love guitar. out.

crackeryack Says:

May 6, 2008 - In response to the below disucssion about hand size in relation to the possibility of guitar playing, I want to agree here with the people who point out that it really doesn't matter. Angus has tiny hands. Billy Joe from Green day has very small hands. You may not think he's much of a player because he plays a lot of barre but actually he is very, very good. Finally both Tony Iommi (Sabbath) and Jerry Garcia (the dead) were actually missing finger or parts of fingers!

jaredw5 Says:
