Written by Burns as a tribute to King Robert the Bruce and William Wallace; two of his heroes, and indeed the whole Scottish Nation. This is Bruce's call to his men before the start of the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. Set to the tune "Hey Tuttie Tatie" an age old marching tune from medieval times. Sung regularly at Burns Suppers and many other gatherings of Scots across the world. I have tried to give it some dignity here. Scots, wha hae wi' Wallace bled, Scots, wham Bruce has aften led, Welcome to your gory bed Or to victorie! Now's the day, and now's the hour: See the front o' battle lour, See approach proud Edward's power - Chains and slaverie! Wha will be a traitor knave? Wha will fill a coward's grave? Wha sae base as be a slave? - Let him turn, and flee! Wha for Scotland's King and Law Freedom's sword will strongly draw, Freeman stand or freeman fa', Let him follow me! By oppression's woes and pains, By your sons in servile chains, We will drain our dearest veins But they shall be free! Lay the proud usurpers low! Tyrants fall in every foe! Liberty's in every blow! Let us do or dee! This is NOT the punk version which you will find elsewhere.....

Jun 18, 2008 - I'm an argentinian admirer of Burns, this is one of my favourite poems, it's the first time I listen to someone singing it, thank you, I really like your performance.

Jun 18, 2008 - My friend, I've just commented on the punk version, then came back to yours. when I read "I've tried to give it some dignity" (you did) couldn't help thinking you had the punk version in mind. Then I read at the bottom of your text "This is NOT the punk version...". I'm a poet and a deep lover of poetry. The work of my favourite poets, and Burns is one of them, is sacred to me. It really hurts me to see crap like that "p.v" Thank you again for keeping alive the spirit of our good old Rabbie.

Jun 19, 2008 - Fantastic. This stirs the Scottish blood. Congratulations. I am curious as to the lyrics change in the third line of the fifth stanza; "We shall drain our dearest veins". In the video, I believe you say "They shall". Was there any conscious thought behind this, or was it a mistake? Either way, the ideology remains unchanged, so there's no big deal there. For a request, I'd be interested in hearing your version of "Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond" - when you have the time. Thank you.

Jun 20, 2008 - Thanks for the feedback.... 5th stanza words...well spotted! It was a mistake but the rest had gone so well I let it be. On reflection it seemed to fit as well....as you say! Not done Loch Lomond for a long time......working hard on Robert Burns at the moment but will try post it for you some time. regards

Jun 28, 2008 - This version of Scots Wha Hae is totally inspiring! I first heard this song when a choir my dad is in sang it and loved it ever since. I wish I had heard your version of this back at the start of my guitar playing days as it would have spurred me on even more. You're finger picking is bang on time, brilliant. Thanks mate
