Mar 23, 2008 - Don't let any movie decide for you what your opinion should be on a subject because they (the makers of this movie or any movie) can stretch or break facts to suit their own goals, whatever their political leanings may be. Read for yourself the issues pertaining to a subject and make an educated opinion for yourself. NEVER let someone make your opinion for you.

theotypedthis Says:

Mar 23, 2008 - "i signed up thinking i was going over there to fight for my country...everything turned out so different than we thought," i think that's pretty straightforward.

arielsandersmusic Says:

Mar 24, 2008 - mfleming98 ... lols you are right of course ... and you don't know me, obviously! I have a pretty critical eye ... always open to new ideas . including Allen's, Hollywood ... :P

LeonShnider Says:

Mar 24, 2008 - I like the song:) But,you guys know more about military or war than I do...I was not obligated to serve the army...they made this law just few years before my time:)I'm glad I didn't have to kill no one who did nothing to me...

Fringe111 Says:

Mar 24, 2008 - Back at ya

casesteel Says:

Mar 24, 2008 - Military service members contractually agree that their term of service may be involuntarily extended. However I do feel that if this happens to somebody, they should get a handsome pay increase. I'd gladly give up my $300 tax stimulus to pay for our service men and women to continue ONE more tour. In fact I don't think any presidential candidate should receive ANY funding for their campaign, it should go to our troops.

MP78213 Says:

Mar 24, 2008 - Being a combat vet myself, I'm leary of the movies and tv shows about the current wars. From what I can tell from the trailers, the two characters have different opinions of their service. That may be why I'm interested in seeing the movie. It doesn't seem to be all Anti-War/Bush/Policy nor Pro-War/Bush/Policy.

MP78213 Says:

Mar 24, 2008 - I was not affected by Stop-Loss, so I can't truly say how I would have reacted. It is a great burden to be going and coming, the only difference being you might "luck out" and get sent to Afghanistan. Hollywood may spin this hard and they may not, but I'm willing to check it out.

JustA11en Says:

Mar 24, 2008 - Agreed. Thanks for the comment. My understanding it that the focus is on the soldiers and not the war.

missdivinestalls Says:

Mar 24, 2008 - I am TOTALLY going! I heard about this stop-loss crap and there is a channel on youtube called stoploss where they talk about it. Kimberly Pierce is a bad ass director. This is SUCH an important issue, among a myriad of others, regarding how these troops are being treated. Thanks for helping to promote it.

ChangeDaChannel Says:

Mar 24, 2008 - Looks like a damn good movie!!! Very powerful

AngryAussie Says:

Mar 25, 2008 - Now THAT looks like a movie worth making.

theunknownknows Says:

Mar 25, 2008 - My friend served in the Marines 1995-2001. In 2004, he had a quiet little celebration. That day ended the 3-year recall period very Marine gets. If he'd gotten a letter in that time, he'd have been annoyed, maybe upset, but not surprised.

JustA11en Says:

Mar 25, 2008 - Stop-Loss is different than inactive reserve. That is what your friend, and many soldiers, are aware of. They usually sign a 6 & 2 contract. 6 years active, and 2 inactive. Stop-Loss can extend you past any contract, or inactive reserve commitment.

twelvestringsband Says:

Mar 25, 2008 - I wanna see that movie...looks good.

MrRay47 Says:

Mar 30, 2008 - It opened here in Honolulu yesterday with absolutely no advertising at all ... just the small print in the movie schedule. Looks like this is a story that someone doesn't think the American people will want to see. I'm going with my wife tomorrow. aloha :) ray

JustA11en Says:

Mar 30, 2008 - Let me know what you think.

MrRay47 Says:

Mar 30, 2008 - Saw this movie earlier today. For the general public this is a good introduction to PTSD and its symptoms. It also explains stop-loss and shows the problems that stop-loss can have on the veteran & his family. If you're a combat vet there's nothing here that's new and Hollywood has screwed up a LOT of the details but it's still worth seeing anyway. It's not pro-war or anti-war, it's about the soldiers. aloha :) ray

JustA11en Says:

Mar 31, 2008 - I appreciate your opinion of the film. I don't think i've seen many films about the military that didn't screw up the details, but I'm glad this one does focus on the soldiers.

strawllaco Says:

Apr 8, 2008 - does anyone have a clip of this movie with steven strait's part? he's supposed to be michael colson

20kls29 Says:

Apr 28, 2008 - We were waiting for this movie to come to our theatre, but when I called the manager, he said it didn't make the cut and he wasn't even able to get it! Does anyone else think the political powers of Hollywood had anything to do with this? The guy said we would be able to rent it probably in 6 or 8 weeks! I have read this was a really good movie. I can't wait to see it! God bless ALL the troops, active or not!

JDuWayne Says:

May 9, 2008 - Sir i totally agree. I am really critical of movies and especially ones about the military and our country. I am a Marine Recruit and when they showed the Marine Corps' flag i was really taken back. The biggest problem i have with this is that its a fact that when you sign up, you sign so many thing (when i enlisted i swear i signed over 100times) that decide your life, one of them being the stop-loss that gives the government ability to extend your contract w/o your consent(they even say it)

JDuWayne Says:

May 9, 2008 - i also do want to say that it gives great insight into PTSD which is a growing problem and needs to be dealt with

redbrest Says:

May 27, 2008 - God Bless ALL the troops

x0x0sHelb013 Says:

Jul 9, 2008 - this was one of the best movies i hav ever seen!!!
