THE THRILL IS IN THE HUNT. In 1999, Ben Mitchell (Nathan Phillips) and his two British girlfriends Liz Hunter (Cassandra Magrath) and Kristy Earl (Kestie Morassi) buy an old car to travel through the outback of Australia with little money. Their first stop is to visit a meteor crater in the isolated Wolf Creek National Park. When they go to their car, they find that it does not start and without option, they decide to spend the night in the car. Later, a local friendly man, the hillbilly Mick Taylor (John Jarrat), stops his truck, offers to help the trio, finds that they need to replace the coil and proposes to tow them to his camp, where he could fix the car. When they accept the proposal, their dreamy vacation turns into a scary nightmare.

HapaDoll Says:
Jul 29, 2008 - I believe in God as much as the next person, but that was irrelevant and worded in an incredibly off-putting way.

Jul 29, 2008 - Anticlimactic, run-of-the-mill gore porn. If a director is going to go the brutal realism route these days, they better have a story to back it up. Maybe a build? A climax? Maybe some damn suspense?! It was passably acted and shot. I'll give it that. Over all, a big YAWN. Also, SOMETIMES WHAT YOU DON'T SEE IS SCARIER. Can no modern-day horror director get this? I guess this one was only meant for misogynist teens anyway.

Aug 7, 2008 - I wasn't too impressed by the film (although being Australian, the landscapes were incredible). However, your opinions don't seem to be backed by any concrete details - mind giving me an example of what you consider a good horror film to be?
glukach Says:
Aug 7, 2008 - It looks like the misogynistic teens have voiced their opinions! Such anger. Good horror flicks -- and I'll start with ones aryluizjr has been kind enough to upload: Funhouse, The Brood, The Descent, 28 Days Later, Prince of Darkness, The Exorcist, The Thing, Halloween (most Carpenter actually), Texas Chainsaw Etc., Suspiria, Zombi, The Gates of Hell, the classic Romero trilogy, Alien, Cloverfield, Jacob's Ladder and TONS of others that I can't think of right now.
GoldenEyeRa Says:
Aug 8, 2008 - Yep, looks like we're pretty much on the same page here in terms of opinions :D Although I didn't really like Cloverfield, haven't seen Suspiria or The Gates of Hell, and I'm actually one of the very few people who also thinks Romero's Land of the Dead is still pretty darn great. Although not much of a horror film... just kinda gory satire/action. And yeah, Jacob's Ladder is one of my favourite films ever :)
Minifuchsi Says:
Aug 11, 2008 - o.o wow...thx for upload...
RedSoldier07 Says:
Aug 14, 2008 - The only thing I don't like about these kind of horror movies is the lack of motivation. Why does the killer kill? Revenge? Possessed by evil? Something in their childhood? Being pure evil? things like that.
Maybyn Says:
Aug 15, 2008 - I agree with Jakesault, it's good that we got to know the characters, the viewer tends to care more about them. I was hoping that the girl who lost the fingers would have made it. She was very well cast for the part, very attractive and yet plain at the same time.
salzana Says:
Aug 17, 2008 - But because the story is true they can't tell you that because they don't know .
iamthedave3 Says:
Aug 18, 2008 - Wolf Creek isn't true. It's vaguely based on the backpacker murders, but only vaguely. The guy who did those was caught. It's a cop-out to say that 'they don't know'. The director chooses not to provide an explanation. In this case, you can make guesses and infer things based on what Mick says, but really there's no reason why he would provide an explanation. He has no empathy. That's part of the horror, though, isn't it? That the explanation is 'because'.
