http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harlan_Ellison "Of all the groups and/or individuals who might wish to do me bad cess, out of animus or insanity, I never have to worry about Scientologists. I haven't seen the thing you reference on YouTube, but Ron Hubbard and I were friends. No matter in what godhood he is held by those who may "follow his footsteps," Ron HIMSELF told them to leave me alone, that I was okay in his book. I may not have much use for Scientology, but I had--and still have--LOTS of camaraderie and admiration for the man." - Harlan Ellison posted feb 29 h08: http://harlanellison.com/heboard/unca.htm

May 6, 2008 - caught a lot of bricks?

randolphtd1 Says:

May 11, 2008 - Harlan Ellison is an awful, awful writer. LRH, however, is worse.

relentharlequin Says:

May 12, 2008 - I think this is the first time I've heard Harlan speak, and I'm glad I found it. He's a writer with some fascinating insights.

dannthr Says:

May 15, 2008 - Psychological horror? I'm pretty sure House of Escher is a psychological horror novel--written by Poe, obviously.

visceralgristle Says:

May 22, 2008 - Robin and Williams have 2 of the fastest brains on the planet.. but Harlan's mouth tends to run faster than his brain.

visceralgristle Says:

May 22, 2008 - Sorry, Robin and Harlan.

pixiedolores Says:

Jun 17, 2008 - You know, I've felt like shit plenty of times in my life before, and I'm sure everyone else has at some point or another. If Dianetics is bullshit, then why the hell don't I FEEL like bullshit because of it? It's made my life a bazillion times better than it ever was, or ever will be. I know this from experience, being a person who understands what feeling like shit is all about. I'm sure someone can relate, here. Anyone?

gooyzit Says:

Jun 21, 2008 - howcome there aren't more interviews of Harlan on here?

JAnon12345 Says:

Jun 22, 2008 - Regression Therapy and Hypnosis, he researched psychotherapy techniques 'at the time' he wrote dianetics. He applied them badly in part BUT also it is WAY out of date and practiced by people who want to wage war on the profession their techniques were stolen from..

Radacoin Says:

Jun 22, 2008 - Well, there are a few reasons. One is the placebo effect. It makes you feel good because you want it to make you feel good, it's a self fulfilling prophecy. Another is the community of Scientology, that, like other organized religions, makes people feel good because they feel like they belong somewhere. Honestly, if it works for you, that's great. What the protestors and critics want to expose are the abuses of the organization of the Church.

Radacoin Says:

Jun 22, 2008 - Why does enlightenment cost money? Why are CoS's employees not being paid minimum wage? Why does the Office of Special Affair harass, defame, sue, and attack critics of the CoS when Scientology is supposed to be pro-free speech? Why does the CoS receive religious favoritism from the IRS, in direct violation of the establishment clause? Why doesn't CoS openly admit their beliefs in Incident II aka the Xenu story? Why is there a Disconnection Policy? These are the questions we ask, you should too

elf3825 Says:

Jul 3, 2008 - There is a fundamental difference here between religion and the church(?) of scientology. I agree with you 7tilsleep, im sure that using study tech can indeed help people, without a doubt it can increase self awareness. However the practices of the church(?) is a different matter. I am sure that you could have found another avenue of self evaluation that would have cost you far less + been far more beneficial. Now that you are in scientology you seem to believe it is the be all + end all.

F4R207 Says:

Jul 9, 2008 - It's just one addiction for another, try finding harmony with out conviction. You might not know what you are missing. Don't limit youself to a single illusion and paradigm, transcend and change, constantly.

F4R207 Says:

Jul 9, 2008 - ..bah, it ended like that, I want more :\

beautifulspam Says:

Jul 11, 2008 - hubbard was influenced by wilhelm reich? i guess that makes sense...

Kwinnky Says:

Jul 14, 2008 - Ironically, I might try out some of Hubbard's pulp fiction because of this. But ONLY his pulp fiction.
