Filmed June 1st, 2007 @ THE BIG EASY in Houston TX. If you visit Houston, don't miss this blues club! Earl told me he is 74 years. In some of these shots I think he looks more like 24 years! Jackie Gray on Drums, I.J.Gosey on Guitar, Larry Evans on Bass. The club was dark and LOUD... (as a blues club should be!) Worked very hard to tone down the distortion. Enjoy this Texas blues man!

Aug 28, 2007 - Dang, that makes me miss Ron...Classic Earl. Just needs a little Canadian Sunset or some yodeling!! Bass player there? Larry Evans, AKA my Baby Bro. Thanks for the video, Debra. Earl's the Real Deal, and I hope somebody does a full documentary on him before we lose him. He's got years to go, as long as he gets to play.

Aug 30, 2007 - Yeah, you right, that IS Larry Evans on Bass. Sorry I didn't have footage of him on here. I'm in love with Earl. Larry deserves to be here! Excellent bass man! Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it. I am a musician, and this is quite FAR from a pro camera situation... It was REALLY fun to spend time on! Maybe I should give up accordion and start doing music videos? Of course, I'll need better than a $500. camera that includes some sound inputs, hey? Who's Ron?
mojofromopolis Says:
Aug 31, 2007 - Ah,but I am there!(2:42)Dont mind not being in the shot at all(typical sideman)not really that in love with me face either! Earl is a pleasure to play with and to be around Ron Nelson was our old "stand up" singer,we used to do some of the more "arranged" Johnny Taylor type material with.Passed away unfortunately
mojofromopolis Says:
Aug 31, 2007 - I should also say that i dont think I have any more fun than when I play with this particular line up behind Earl.Usually I dont move around much, but I remember groovin that night!
carcinoid112 Says:
Aug 31, 2007 - Dude, does Earl have any CDs available? I got a musician (opera singer) buddy on line that wants one BAD...and I don't have one either. (And do you have any type of recording with Ron on it?)
carcinoid112 Says:
Aug 31, 2007 - One of my on-line friends is a science documentary maker. She's said that doing documentaries has taught her as much as her advanced degrees ever did, and got her a LOT more respect. With the resurgence in interest in the old blues guys, financing might not be that hard to come by!
mojofromopolis Says:
Aug 31, 2007 - Earl`s CD,"Texas Doghouse Blues" is available.(CDUniverse,Ebay, prolly Amazon)I do have old video with Ron in the doghouse which I will try to post if I can ever get it onto a disc..........
mojofromopolis Says:
Aug 31, 2007 - The funny thing about Earl is,after knowing him for the past 13 years,we`ve all gotten older and he still seems the same age.........must be from drinkin them "blue boys"!
whatitoldya Says:

Nov 18, 2007 - Thanks for taking this video and sharing it with us, Debra. Really cool... and nice to see Larry Evans up there on bass. You even caught Earl's feet tapping and working the pedals--that was very cool! And who was that drummer? He looked familiar. Is he a Big Easy regular player?
GoreeCarter Says:
Nov 21, 2007 - Yes, it´s the same man who did Wrong Doing Woman on that Krazy Kat compilation. He also had another 45 released on the Sarg label in the late 50´s. Thanks for sharing, Debra!
mojofromopolis Says:
Nov 24, 2007 - The drummer here is Jackie Gray, who was the drummer for Texas Johnny Brown,Clarence Green, and way too many other Houston blues notables to mention here.He recently took the position of "house" drummer at the wednesday night Big Easy blues jam.Great guy and very FUNKY DRUMMER!
