Quran is written in Arabic which is a live language and is spoken by millions of people around the world. There are several million people who know the Quran by heart and among the countless written copies of the Quran there are no two copies where there is even a difference of as much as a single alphabet!! Bible is in ancient languages that are dead, there are differences amongst various versions!

Oct 9, 2008 - I just finished reading the Quran in its original language dude and I'm telling you the word in arabic for sky and heaven is Sama'. Bear in mind that the Quran was revealed to 7th century arabs. There was no seperate terminology for sky and outter space. Also the Quran is not a science textbook. It is for everyone. So when the average person talks about the sun, he says the sun in the sky, although we know the sun in not in technically earth's atmosphere.

Oct 9, 2008 - When these roles, namely of men and women, are viewed in isolation, the individual may appear to deprived of their personal desires, whereas Islam views this as a necessary sacrifice to ensure the successful functioning of society as a whole, an idea the West doesn't quite buy. From what I can foresee, this clash of ideologies is going to eventuate in a war with a lot of blood-shed because both sides are unwilling to let go of what they believe is the "right" path. For example: "He Who created the seven heavens one above another..."(67:3) "...We send down rain from the sky, and produce on the earth every kind of noble creature, in pairs. "(31:10) Both "Heaven" in the first verse and "sky" in the second verse is the word "samaa" in the Qur'an. You know which one is being spoken of according to the verse. Kind of like in the English language where one word could have mean so many things.

However, if you believe in God and believe that he gave us a law to live by, who are we to say that law should be abandoned? Look at the social fabric of society where God's law has been abandoned.
