Jul 24, 2008 - I only have one question for you.What is a 'kind'?

scotzbhoy Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - Yeah that last one was a joke cos there's a hoax video going round where Dawkins was asked that question and couldn't answer.

jesuslives57 Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - I hope you realize he had answered that same question a number of times ;)

scotzbhoy Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - I know. It was a wind up to the evolutionists.

scotzbhoy Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - There is no official definition of kind as we are discussing it. However, the definition I have come up with which I feel best describes what we are discussing is, 'A particular family of animals within a genus, i.e. the cat kind, consisting of lions, tigers, leopards etc.'

JohnHasSeriousQ Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Questions 6, 7, and 9 are questions for Physicists like Brian Cox to answer. However, many of the answers to most of your questions are answered in videos I have as favorites, or by other videos from youtubers that I have on my subscriptions list or friends list. Most of these answers can also be found in most 'reputable' High School science text books. Again, I commend you for asking tough questions, but please move beyond Kent Hovind to find real answers to these questions. Keep Thinking!

Jul 28, 2008 - 1.mutation...these are prokaryotes mind you 2.evolution of our minds, were highly intelligent, much more than other animals 3.explained through number 2 4.perhaps self polymerizing RNA 5.The iridium layer, the crater in the yucatan, our knowledge of the environmental effects of a meteorite impact 6.the elements may have fused in supernovas 7.good question 8.there are a multitude of possibilities, run off type events, environmental protection, lack of weatherring of bones etc

cheezit1314 Says:

Jul 28, 2008 - 9.electrons can form from high energy photons...im no expert on this, but this is a good question 10.all beneficial mutations add "information" to the genome. There are many beneficial mutations ww w.talkorigins .o rg/indexcc/CB/CB101. ht ml Considerring your last videos, ill have to admit, these questions definetly show a will for a higher understanding of the subject...this is good, finding the answers.

cheezit1314 Says:

Jul 28, 2008 - 1 more thing, if there are any specific questions that your average joe cant seem to thouroughly answer, and perhaps youre looking for a detailed explanation, you should look for people who major in the subject to answer your question...for example, DonExodus2 would very likely have an answer for your biochemistry questions, whereas somone like Andromedas wake could probably give you the answers to your cosmology questions...but yea, good job

neuronstorm Says:

Jul 28, 2008 - 8. As you implied - yes it is difficult to become a fossil. Only a tiny proportion of things that die, will do so in the right place & under the right conditions to fossilize. The massive number of fossils we find, are a tiny proportion of the massive number of fossils that exist - which is in turn a tiny proportion of the number of deaths that occurred. That we have so many fossils demonstrates what a vast number of lives have been lived - and why evolution has produced so many variations.

neuronstorm Says:

Jul 28, 2008 - His sidebar comment: "Respectful comments which do not answer any of the questions will be marked as spam." is one possible reason. Another is the regurgitation of the silly 'information in the genome' question that creationists love. Yeah - it's just a harmless dig.. but it's unnecessary on a vid that's 'just curious' as you put it. He also uses the creationist term 'evolutionists'. Also mixing in cosmology questions implies they are part of the theory of evolution - which they're not.

ianmcmlxxv Says:

Jul 29, 2008 - 1. The fact that the vast majority of multicellular organisms exhibit some form of sexual reproduction suggests that it is something that developed far in the evolutionary past, probably even before true multicellular organisms developed. In the present day some single celled organisms are known to have mechanisms for exchanging genetic material and while this couldn't be called true sexual reproduction it can be seen as potentialy the first step towards it.

ianmcmlxxv Says:

Jul 29, 2008 - 2. How do you know animals have no conscience? All that can be said is that from observation animals do not display a human-like conscience and that's not the same as no conscience at all. Language is the key. It allows us to think with more clarity and precision about more complex situations and relations. It allows us to verbalise concepts and ideas. All these benefits of language seem to me to be requisite to having a human level conscience.

vasiliosrigos Says:

Jul 29, 2008 - Time is short. You want to know who created everything on this earth simply read the Bible. Book 1 Genesis explains it all. For you doubters simply read Daniel and the Revelation and you will be amazed of how many prolific events are occuring today.Pray that God calls you and then you are chosen. Then repent of sin ,turn from ,sin and beg that the Lord Jesus Christ enters your heart. The next 7 or so years on this earth are going to make you wish you were dead. God has had enough. A chosen1

njpalko314 Says:

Aug 3, 2008 - What's sad is that you didn't mean it as sarcasm.

vasiliosrigos Says:

Aug 4, 2008 - no I meant it as the the truth. Just look around you in this world without God. God has given us the chance and I do not think we have done a good job. He knew we would not. That is why He gave us Jesus. He is the only one who can save us . No politican, no scientist, no church, mosque or temple. Only Jesus. I mean just look at this world, full of war famine killings suffering disease,on and on. TURN to the the Bible ,you will find the truth. lovw peace wisdom FAITH. A Chosen One

njpalko314 Says:

Aug 4, 2008 - You do realize this is stuff atheistic comics say.

SaviorOfLogic Says:

Aug 10, 2008 - 1) Some small algae can both reproduce sexually and asexually, and slowly sexual reproduction (which makes evolution happen faster) took over 2&3) Consciences and emotion are present in animals and, if they feel sad at the loss of a partner, will look out for each other 4) An RNA world, but this is really abiogenesis 5) The crater has the same date as when the dinosaurs died out, but anything, like global climate change could have wiped them out 6) Supernovas, but this is not evolution

k87jury Says:

Aug 11, 2008 - Well actual if you mean he increase in secularism, then the world is better for it.

mordinvan Says:

Aug 16, 2008 - 1) started with horozontal gene transfer beteween early cells, a would have happened then their still fluid membranes touched, and momentarily fused to allow transfer of genetic material. This allows for increases survival and reproductive success of those who can do it, and would select for early sexual reproduction. 2 +3 ) SOME higher animals especially social animals do have concepts of right and wrong, as are needed for any sort of prolonged social contact.

mordinvan Says:

Aug 16, 2008 - 4) RNA was the first self replicating auto catalytic material. They are called ribozymes. 5) There is an ash layer all over the world with high traces of iridium in it called the KT boundry. Also there is a large crater in the yukatan penisula which dates to the correct time. 6) super novas create high enough temperatures and pressures to allow for large scale neutron capture by lighter elements 7) stars came from hydrogen and helium which then fused heavier elements.

mordinvan Says:

Aug 16, 2008 - 8) most fossils are of sea ceatures, the rates of fossilization of land animals are about 1 bone in billions. We have very few fossils compaired to the actual number of creatures which lived. 9) it condensed out of the energy released by the expanding point singularity. 10) gene duplication followed by further mutations which enhance or change the function of the gene. Trans species transfer of DNA using retrovirus carriers.

Fernoe Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - 1. It's difficult to tell exactly which creatures were the first to sexually reproduce, since this would require looking at soft tissues, which are not present in fossils and therefore don't show up in fossil records. However by looking at modern creatures, there are a small number of creatures which can reproduce both sexually and asexually (female turkeys) and some organisms can be hermaphrodite, and can sexually reproduce with themselves (some plant species). datalorez Says:

Aug 26, 2008 - #2, you would really be surprised at how adept animals are to our feelings. Most apparent are dogs. Golden Retriever are really good examples. They know when they have done wrong, like digging into the trash or leaving a "present" somewhere in the house. Animals are very smart. Beavers rigorously construct dams and homes along rivers and lakes and you'd be surprised at the workmanship that they exhibit, using sticks and mid much like early Indians and aborigines to create huts and hogans.

PeterEvolves Says:

Oct 9, 2008 - 10. The evolution of an enzyme in bacteria that allows it metabolize nylon.
