See you guys here:myspace.com/heathaddict I made a music video about my favorite ,but tragic character,Sonny Grotowski, played by Heath Ledger! It's about a father ,played by Billy Bob Thornton who hates his son,Sonny, so much he wishes he hadn't been born!He hates him because he's everything he can't be...plus not a racist!Although Heath's part is short he is extraordinary and cause of this co-writers from Brokeback Mountain,Lords of Dogtown,Brothers Grimm& Candy are blown away and decides he's perfect for his next roles! He's performance is very heart-wrenching!

May 8, 2008 - I saw this film some time ago and i missed the beginning. I was only watching it coz heath ledger was in it but within about 10 minutes the character had shot himself. Could someone remind me, why did the father dislike his son so much? Was it the fathers constant ill treatment of his son that drove him to kill himself? Thanks

May 12, 2008 - I think he loved his son, but he maybe think he was very weak because he through up when he walked with the guy who should be executed. He make it harder for him, when he should be calm, I think.

May 14, 2008 - he probabaly hated himself and hated the fact he didn't know how to teach his son to be a man
bmcguire80 Says:
May 19, 2008 - He hated his son because his son reminded him of his wife/Sonny's mother. He also hated that his son was "weak" as he saw it, but you could argue whether he actually was weak... it depends on whether you see compassion, sympathy, remorse, self doubt, etc as being weak or not. Many would argue that these are the emotions that are most important to being the best versions of ourselves and humanity that we can become.

Mar 22, 2008 - Nice video. I honestly wasn't blown away by "Monster's Ball," but I recall myself feeling that Heath Ledger was one of the film's saving graces. His performance was pitch-perfect, and that moment where his character took his own life genuinely caught me by surprise. I'm not just saying that because of Heath's passing. I've never seen Heath give a bad performance, but that was the only performance of his that I found especially remarkable. Then again, I haven't seen "The Dark Knight" yet.
