Click here for more details: Not sure why I went preaching on church dinners to make a point about the topic. It was just what I happen to think of here is something on the topic from the texts attributed to Paul. :0) But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come. (1Co 11:28-34 KJV) On Discipleship- "New Light on the Difficult words of Jesus"- by David Bivin. Avot 5:21- 5:21 He would say, " At five to Scripture, ten to Mishnah, thirteen to religious duties, fifteen to Talmud, eighteen to the wedding canopy, twenty to responsibility for providing for a family, thirty to fullness of strength, forty to understanding, fifty to counsel, 0 sixty to old age, 1 seventy to ripe old age, 2 eighty to remarkable strength, 3 ninety to a bowed back, and 4 at a hundred— he is like a corpse who has already passed and gone from this world." Bava Mestisa 2:11 2:11 I [If he has to choose between seeking] what he has lost and what his father has lost, `his own takes precedence. `II . . . what he has lost and what his master has lost, `his own takes precedence. `III . . . what his father has lost and what his master has lost, `that of his master takes precedence. `For his father brought him into this world. `But his master, who taught him wisdom, will bring him into the life of the world to come. `But if his father is a sage, that of his father takes precedence. `[If] his father and his master were carrying heavy burdens, he removes that of his master, and afterward removes that of his father. `[If] his father and his master were taken captive, `he ransoms his master, and afterward he ransoms his father. `But if his father is a sage, he ransoms his father, and afterward he ransoms his master. Apr 4, 2008 - I think he wanted full commitment, and he knew that it would cause much more pain for them to stay fully attached to their families. He wanted them to learn and understand his teachings fully, without any distraction at all. Pretty logical and rational of Christ, eat THAT atheists ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.

Apr 4, 2008 - The Bagel of Geeda? Paul the apostle said I would rather be thrown in hell so others may know Christ! Beer with a thousand sinners- verses roast beef with....what? Apples and oranges....righteousness vs. self righteousness.

Apr 4, 2008 - Publican and sinners -Vs- hypocrites. The literature says hang with the publican. ;0)

Apr 4, 2008 - Warming a pew isn't enough? :(

biggydman Says:

Apr 4, 2008 - Literature can say anything, and hypocrites ARE sinners. My "literature" says all have sinned! So what sinners should I hang out with- the bitter and ignorant, or the uninformed and conformed? Should we be wake up calls to the walking dead, or stumbling blocks to the outer courts? Is it possible some are called to each area? It'd be like John the Baptist saying to Jesus, "Hey Lord- when your intense it's awesome, but sometimes you do this Mister Rogers stuff, and it's gotta stop!"

Apr 4, 2008 - So what's the solution? More dinners? Helping your neighbor, Selling all you have, leaving your family, leaving your dead. How much will it cost? Each person has his own price. Some are able to hand it over and some are not, and go away troubled. How much did the pew cost that you sit in?

biggydman Says:

Apr 4, 2008 - Man, if you live out what you ask of others, you're radical for Christ! If it's in your heart and reality as much as your head. BTW: I'm sitting in a chair I bought from Pamida for 19.95.

Apr 10, 2008 - Wonderful, I agree. Just a thought on what the Great Commision means, we see it at the end of Matthew, Jesus says to make disciples, teaching them to observe everything he commanded, ie disciples, not just praying the 'sinners prayer'. If Jesus isnt Lord of all in our lives, he isn't Lord at all.

Jun 17, 2008 - I think DEDICATION is the word... Seek with ALL your heart.. ALL.. but who does??? Its really amaze me that there is so much slackness among believers (myself also). For consider, how extreeeemly dedicated people can be in things who really dont matter in the end (like sport, gambling, and many other things) things I count for vanities. But how is it then that things which is so, so, so much more importent like our soul and ETERNITY is so much neglected among us? This really, really amaze me..

XxLOSTxX Says:

Jun 17, 2008 - Luk 13: 23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will SEEK TO ENTER in, and SHALL NOT BE ABLE. consider also Mat 13:1-23 (Luk 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.)

XxLOSTxX Says:

Jun 17, 2008 - Pro 24: 30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; 31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. 32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. 33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
