Lofty makes it just in time to join the lovely boys back to Blighty, with the help of Char Wallah Muhammad. This clip is taken from the second last episode of the It Ain't Half Hot Mum series, entitled "The Long Road Home" (27/08/1981) Season 8 Episode 6. It Ain't Half Hot Mum was a British sitcom about the adventures of a Royal Artillery Concert Party, broadcast between 1974 and 1981, and written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, the creators of Dad's Army. It was set in British India and Burma, towards the end of the Second World War. The series ran for 8 seasons, amounting to 56 episodes for 7 years - between 1974 to 1981. Featuring Dino Shafeek (a.k.a. Dino Shaffer) born 1929 in Dacca, East Bengal, British India; died March 10, 1984 was a Bangladeshi actor. He was probably best known for the part of 'Char Wallah Muhammed' in the BBC sitcom It Ain't Half Hot Mum, though he also appeared as a regular in the sitcom Mind Your Language as Ali Nadim. This is one of the most touching ending for an episode when Char Wallah Muhammad waves goodbye to his friends who he had come to know since the beginning of the series. His presence was the longest standing surpassing his other "Indian colleagues", Rangi Ram who left after Season 5 (the actor Michael Bates succumbed to cancer) and Punkah Wallah Rumzan (Babar Bhatti).
