I'm a fifty-something who grew up listening to great Pittsburgh disc jockeys. Porky Chedwick, Mad Mike, and Terry Lee spun some of the greatest R+B and Soul. They were known for flipping it over and finding those classics. I took it all in. I love the 60's Soul ballads, and I guess at one time had a pretty good collection. I relive all those memories again thru you tube. Hope to post some of my "gems" soon. Love to research labels, writers, and artists, especially Chicago Soul. All audio tracks used here are from my personal collections of CDs, Albums, and 45's. They are presented here for non-profit entertainment use only. Copyrights are held by the owners of the respective material, and i encourage all viewers to check out these artists and support them through purchasing their CDs and various collections available. Enjoy.

From the group that hit with 'I'm Gonna Miss You', this record was released in 1969. For some inexplicable reason, 'What Happened' didn't dent the charts. This has always been one of my fave Artistics tracks, and a prime example of the Brunswick talent at it's peak. Really fine Chicago vocal...

Betty Everett from 1969 on the Uni label. Produced in Chicago by her longtime producer, Leo Austell, Betty gives this song some serious soulfulness. Written by Gamble-Huff and her old partner, Jerry Butler, a little of that Philly magic shows on this record. It's really hard to believe this disc...

1968 track by Pittsburgh's Jaggerz. Billy Maybray and the boys in the band cut this for Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff in Philadelphia. Great example of how soulful this group of guys could be. Originally the flip side to 'Gotta Find My Way Back Home', another super track from the guys who hit big...
